Connect With Cathy

Cathy Donovan Wagner


With over 30 years of experience in retail, as both an owner and a consultant, Cathy has the unique position of having worked on both sides of the counter.

A “temporary” part-time job led her to discover a life calling in retail — developing her own ideas on how to run a store. She opened her own (profitable in year one), then two more, eventually grossing more than $2.5 million dollars collectively.

“With four kids and three stores, I had to have some incredible systems in place so that I could manage it all and enjoy family time,” says Cathy.

She then sold her stores to help other retailers achieve the same success, her systems becoming the basis for The Profit Breakthrough System.TM

There is an art and a science to retail, and she has nailed the science — having seen firsthand the tremendous benefits to paying attention to a specific set of metrics.

“The art of retail is in the passion of each store owner and team,” says Cathy. “The science remains the same in all stores regardless of what is being sold.”

Cathy stays on the cutting edge of retail and consumer behavior. Through her speeches, online retail academy, information products, and group coaching programs, she has helped thousands of retailers growth their businesses. She continues to find and develop creative and additional income streams for retailers.

Connect With Paul

Paul Wagner


After a long career in customer service and retail, Paul now brings his shopper-first mentality to RETAILMavens clients. Over 20 years, he helped a 7-figure office furniture business grow from two to 10 retail stores — hiring and firing staff, conducting sales training, and overseeing day-to-day operations to keep the company profitable.

While some of those jobs were hard, none compared to the challenge of being a stay-at-home dad to his and Cathy’s four kids.

“No job demand compares to the time management skills required to keep a family running, happy, and healthy,” says Paul. “That’s why we emphasize ways to give our retailers time for family and life balance.”

Most of the time, Paul works behind the scenes, although you’ll see him pop up to assist with sales and customer service training and to offer insights, support, and levity.

“Nothing inspires me more than seeing people who have a vision for success, and then helping them to bring that vision to life so they can earn more money and get better sleep,” says Paul.

When not helping to grow RETAILMavens partners, Paul works hard to defend his title as “Father of America’s Most Fun Family.”

Juanita contributes over 30 years of successful sales and management experience to RETAILMavens coaching. Having worked closely with shop owners, vendors, and customers throughout her career, she understands the unique dynamics of retail.

An information gatherer at heart, Juanita constantly pursues the latest retail trends, customer behaviors, and shares with RETAILMavens clients. Juanita lives in the western Chicago suburbs with her husband, daughter, and dog, Kipper.

“Our programs and services have a proven track record,” she says. “They take out the guesswork and put a plan in its place: More Profit + More Sleep = Sweet Dreams!”

A details master, Ann has been assisting entrepreneurs with back-end technology and online marketing needs for 10 years. Previously, she worked as an executive assistant to corporate CEOs/VPs. She loves growing businesses through helpful online systems, organization processes, and general support.

She joins the team from Horseshoe Bend, Idaho where she has found a slice of paradise on 10 acres in a small farming community — with her husband, many pets, and two grown children.
