Why Mindset Matters for Success
Forget hustle, success starts with who you are. Cecilia explains the difference between the Have-Do-Be and Be-Do-Have formula:
- We usually start by identifying something we want to have. Let’s say that’s a thriving store.
- We start doing the actions we think we need to do, to get it (hire more staff, hustle, work longer hours).
- Once we start seeing results of our efforts, we now think we will automatically be the empowered CEO. But that isn’t usually the case, our brains fight to stay in that comfort zone (like a thermostat programmed to keep a set temperature). So slowly our willpower will run out, and we’ll stop doing what we were doing, and course correct ourselves back to who we were when we didn’t have the thing.
Instead, consider flipping that formula:
- Be first: Consider who you’d need to be to have a thriving business. Step into the mindset of a thriving CEO and consider, how would the CEO of a thriving store think and feel about their life and business? How would they spend their day? What they say yes to, and what do they say no to?
- Do: Take intentional actions based on that mindset.
- Have: As a result of focusing on the mindset first, and then taking inspired action, you’ll start seeing sustainable results.
When you focus on being first, the doing becomes more effective and the results follow.
